Swansea City booked their place in round three of the Carling Cup with an extra-time victory over Premiership Hull City at the Liberty Stadium.
The visitors took an early lead in the first-half but were pegged back when super sub Gorka Pintado fired an equaliser just after the hour while Jordi Gomez got that all important winner from the penalty spot in extra-time.
This victory for the home side, their fourth in successive games, means that Roberto will lead his side into the third round for the first time in 26 years.
The Swans made eight changes to the side for the Carling Cup second round tie against Hull City.
Albert Serran and Matty Collins came in to partner Marcos Painter and captain Garry Monk at the back while there were wholesale changes in midfield and attack.
A new five-man midfield consisted of Jordi Gomez, Andrea Orlandi, Owain Tudur Jones, Shaun MacDonald and Joe Allen with Guillem Bauza replacing Jason Scotland up-front.
Hull, meanwhile, made 11 changes to the line-up that started at Blackburn on Saturday.
Former Swan Sam Ricketts hadn't been named in the 18-man squad but there were starts for Dean Windass and Nick Barmby,
Swans: Dorus de Vries, Matthew Collins (Angel Rangel, 55'), Garry Monk (C), Albert Serran, Marcos Painter, Shaun MacDonald, Joe Allen (Gorka Pintado, 54'), Jordi Gomez, Owain Tudur Jones, Andrea Orlandi, Guillem Bauza (Febian Brandy, 81').

Hull: Matt Duke, Wayne Brown (C), Bernard Mendy, Liam Cooper (Michael Turner, 91'), Nathan Doyle, Ryan France, Nick Barmby (Nicky Featherstone, 73'), Bryan Hughes, Peter Halmosi, Caleb Folan, Dean Windass (Marlon King, 62').
Not Used: Will Atkinson, Richard Garcia, John Welsh, Tony Warner (GK).

Attendance: 8,622 (147 away)
The visitors started brightly and caused some problems down the left-hand side and were rewarded with an opening goal on 11 minutes, Caleb Folan dummied and Dean Windass cooly slotted into the bottom corner of the net from close-range after the home defence fell asleep.
Guillem Bauza close on 17 minutes for the home side while Ryan France flashed a header wide for the visitors soon after. A fine run down the right-hand side from Shaun MacDonald took the ball passed Nathan Doyle before crossing to the near post, Guillem Bauza was there to pressure 'keeper Matt Duke who was forced to punch behind for a corner.
Gomez and MacDonald linked-up well on the half-hour, playing a neat one-two on the edge of the area only for the on-loan Espanyol man to strike a weak shot towards goal.
A lack of concentration in the home defence just before half-time allowed Peter Halmosi the freedom to fire at Dorus de Vries from outside the area, the Dutchman comfortably saved in what was the final piece of action in a quiet first period.
The Swans had the first bite of the cherry four minutes into the second-half as Garry Monk's through ball found Gomez, he fed Guillem Bauza wide on the left and in turn the Spaniard sprayed the ball out to the other flank where MacDonald was in space, the Wales U-21 international cut inside only to shoot wide of the target.
Roberto made his first two substitutions ten minutes into the second-half, Gorka Pintado replacing Joe Allen and Angel Rangel coming on for Matty Collins as he switched formation to 4-4-2.
Pintado was straight in on the action as he rode a heavy challenge from Tigers' skipper Wayne Brown on the touchline to race through on goal, he had options in the area with Bauza and MacDonald unmarked, he picked out Bauza but the striker could only fire his close-range effort over the bar.
El Toro almost grabbed the equaliser himself on 58 minutes as he met Andrea Orlandi's corner acrobatically, forcing Matt Duke into an excellent reaction save which was pushed wide for another corner.
Dorus de Vries was called into action at the other end two minutes later as the home defence was split open and Ryan France forced the Dutchman into saving low to his right to deflect the ball out of play.
Pintado saw his powerful header cleared off the line but on 63 minutes the former Granada skipper finally converted to make it 1-1. Shaun MacDonald and Angel Rangel played a played a free-kick between themselves, laid it off to Jordi Gomez whose floating ball into the area was met by the head of Pintado to leave Duke with no chance.
Swansea City pressure continued and on 71 minutes Andrea Orlandi played a one-two with Painter down that left-hand side to go soaring towards goal, his cross-come-shot fired past Duke and just past the far post as it drifted away for a throw. On 75 minutes Jordi Gomez released Pintado down the right and his first time cross was met by the head of Bauza only for it to fall wide of the wrong side of the post.
Roberto made his third and final substitution with less than 10 minutes remaining, a straight swap up-front with Febian Brandy coming on to replace Guillem Bauza.
With 86 minutes on the clock Jordi Gomez played through Pintado and the striker, who played a major role in the time that he was on the pitch, struck the ball past Duke only for it to bounce back off the post and with a minute to go Gomez and Pintado set-up Brandy whose close-range effort was sent straight at the 'keeper and pushed away for a corner.
The Swans were handed an injury-time lifeline when Febian Brandy, following a neat one-two with Angel Rangel, was brought down heavily inside the area. The referee awarded a penalty, up-stepped Gorka Pintado but Duke guessed right to deny Roberto's side a winner and forced the tie into extra-time.
Full-Time: Swans 1 Hull 1
Roberto's troops had the better of the first period of extra-time and with a minute left before the break the Swans were handed a second penalty lifeline when Shaun MacDonald was brought down by substitute Michael Turner. Jordi Gomez's neat chip to the path of MacDonald and the on-loan midfielder finished it off as his spot-kick easily beat Matt Duke.
Hull tried to stage a comeback in the second-half and came agonizingly close to an equaliser when Marlon King headed over from a matter of yards.
